It would be easy to just say that I love animals. It is indeed true.
But what really led me to quit my marketing job and work with pets as my life’s job was the need to solve some issues I was experiencing with my own dogs.
In my journey to do so, I have been exposed to different techniques and methodologies, sitting on opposite sides of the training and behaviour modification "spectrum".
I truly believed in some of them, but then I realized they weren't really working. I wasn't headed to any long-term result. I was just getting the ephemeral relief of momentousness fixes, momentaneous interruptions of behaviour.
The worst part is that those methodologies are neither fair nor ethical, and the whole point is about instilling fear and have animals comply with force.
But this is not how I want to be as a person.
Then I discovered a scientifically sound, humane, and respectful approach to train and modify animal behaviour, which not only improved my life, but it also revealed the real nature of my beloved dogs. Blinded by military-alike dog parades, shouted commands, nasty tools, nowadays disproved dominance theories, alphas, betas, omegas... I wasn't really looking at the animals standing in front of me.
Very soon, I was completely fascinated by the subject and I pursued the higher education in the field.
I am a LLA graduate (Leaving & Learning with animals) of Dr. Susan Friedman who is a psychology professor at Utah State University who has pioneered the application of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) to captive and companion animals.
By end of 2020 I became a CPBT-KA (certified professional animal trainer- knowledge assessed), and in the beginning of 2021 I received my certification as a Fear Free Certified Professional.
I take my professional education very seriously because the more I learn, the more I can make a difference in your animal’s life. I engage in ongoing professional development on a regular basis, and I pursue learning opportunities in a variety of ways, including enrolling in several courses, attending seminars, and networking with the best trainers and behaviour consultant professionals.
I am also the owner of Maison Dog, a small dog boarding and day-care in Luxembourg. I believe that all dogs deserve to have a good time when their owners are away. I deploy my best experience, knowledge, and continuous learning in order to accept almost any dog: from mini to giant size, unfixed males and females, puppies and elderly, traumatized and unsocialized dogs, handicapped and injured dogs, dogs with unknown or sad history.
I do my best to understand where a dog is coming from and set the right environment for him to be happy.
